Senior Andre Magyar pictured in class on Friday, Nov. 20. He has many interests, including airplanes, hi-fi audio, extreme kite sports, astronomy and computers and takes pride in these hobbies in order to live the best life he can. “Every day you live is one day closer to your eventual death, and you’ve gotta make these days count, right?” Andre said.

Senior Andre Magyar chooses to commit himself to his many hobbies in order to live life to its full potential.
Army green cargo pants. Plain white t-shirt. Army green jacket. A curly mop of hair parted in the middle. And of course, the signature flashlight and pack of other necessities hanging off his belt loop. This is Andre Magyar, a methodical intellectual, who devotes his time to learning about many aspects of science and technology.
His teachers tell him that he has not lived up to potential. He’s such a smart kid, so why doesn’t he do his work?
His classmates think he’s weird. Why does he know so much about useless things?
He thinks he’s, “crazy, but with a plan.”
He has the next 40 years of his life mapped out in front of him, from where he’s going to go, what he’s going to do, what he’s going to build and where he’s going to put it.
By the end of senior year, Andre hopes to design and construct an axial jet engine.
By age 45, he wants to build an antimatter powered space plane- a ship that would be able to travel around the earth eight times in a single second.
Ultimately, he wants to become an aerospace engineer and design airframes for space planes. He’s fascinated by all that goes into design and feels that the level of thought and interpretation required in such a job is far more rewarding than being force-fed information.
This is why settling into the mundane day-to-day routine of school never appealed to Andre. Procrastinating one’s life away in bliss under a false comfort feeling that “there will always be another day” feels dangerous to him.
He wants to live life to the fullest every day and do things that he truly cares about. He wants to live for himself. He wants to take command of his life.
He’s only got one shot at it.
