Clarke Central High School seniors are now receiving text messages about important announcements.

Clarke Central High School is offering seniors a new way to get important announcements for the 2012-13 school year. CCHS science department teacher Jeanne Sholle is sending text messages and emails about senior events going on at CCHS this year.

“The idea came from a Balfour representative, he had heard about it through a tech website that he uses and he told me about it,” Sholle said. “I researched it and thought it would be a good idea for us to use to get information out about senior activities. I hope if it’s effective enough it can be done every year.”

The announcements are about events the seniors need to be aware of such as the senior picnic, picture retakes, cap and gown prices, prom, and from Balfour informing the seniors about cap and gown, class rings, ect. The announcements will only be sent whenever the information is relevant. Sholle does want to bombard students with texts and emails all the time.

“Our methods of communication are falling short and hopefully this will come in and fill in some gaps, I don’t want inundate anyone with texts or emails,” Sholle said.”We just want to keep (seniors) informed, especially when deadlines are approaching.”

Sholle sends out announcements to the students who have signed up to receive them. Send a text to (828) 394-2718 with the message @cchs2013 or send an email to cchs2013@remind101.com with no subject or text to sign up for the text announcements.

“We will do everything we can to communicate. It’s still really frustrating to me when people come up to me and say, ‘We didn’t know, we didn’t know, we didn’t know,’” Sholle said.   “We did as best as we could to get the announcements out, so maybe this adds a little less frustration to this aspect.”
