As Of Montreal scampered onto the stage for their September 1st show at The Georgia Theatre, located at 215 North Lumpkin Street, a crowd of costumed hooligans roared with agreement. The costumes in the audience ranged from 80’s workout gear and glitter sparkles to a drunken Uncle Sam.
The indie pop band commenced with funk glam inspired music, breaking out into one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
The band, consisting of two keyboardists, a bass player, three guitar players, a drummer, and the all mighty lead singer, Kevin Barnes, granted the audience a perfect mix of music and erotic theatre.
While Barnes strutted his stuff in bright blue leggings and white short -shorts, a gang of misfits put on a theatrical show in the background. At times, it seemed that the theatre didn’t relate to the songs being played, but it definitely grabbed the audience’s attention and made the concert a true adventure.
While many believe that Of Montreal’s last album, The False Priest, wasn’t their finest, nothing can beat the bumping bass and pop groove of an Of Montreal live concert.
